  • COMMENTS:For the first year of this Saab 93CE's life, it was owned by a Saab Executive.  During that time, this car (#002/325) was used as the subject in a series of official Saab photo shoots, including a popular image depicting it parked in New York City - with the World Trade Center in the background.  In September 1994, with 9,222 miles on the clock - it was sold to its second owner, an executive of Texaco Oil in Poughkeepsie, NY.  In 1998 - the car was again sold - to its third owner and shipped to St. Simon's Island, Georgia, where it remained until I obtained it in May 2006 with 155,520 miles on the odometer.  The car is complete but in average condition for its mileage.  Mechanically, I repaired all of the defects in the car which included replacing the ABS controller, the ABS pressure accumulator, the driver- and passenger-side window motors, door and window seals, etc.  There is a little rust forming on the door bottoms and near the battery tray - but overall the car is very solid - and original.  It needs a CV joint on the passenger side as well as a repair of both its power-steering and water pumps.  The interesting thing about this car is that I had the opportunity - back in 1993 - to actually drive it.  The car happened to be at my local Saab dealership one afternoon when I stopped in to pickup some parts.  I immediately fell in love with the car - and the dealership's sales manager told me it was owned by a Saab executive that was touring the facility.  That owner graciously allowed me to "test-drive" the car.  I felt it was serendipitous that 13 years later the same car and I would cross paths again.

  • COMMENTS: Number 5 is alive and well, and is FOR SALE! The first two years the car was in the procession of Saab USA and untitled. The dealership advertised it as a “Press Car” for Saab. I purchased the car in March 1995 with 17,100 miles on the odometer from Shaker Saab in Cleveland, Ohio making me the first and original owner. The car was my daily driver and made several appearances at SOC including the infamous photo in Saab Soundings magazine of the five CE owners at the Saab 50th Anniversary SOC in 1997 (I am the one in Indiana Jones fedora). At 210,000 miles, I semi-retired the car in 2005 with a purchase of a CPO 2003 9-5 – my sixth Saab. The car has been in storage since 2010 and is need of TLC. I have the original window sticker and all the service records. It is with much regret I am giving up the car but it needs a complete ground-up restoration. Hey, Garage Squad, you listening? For sale 9/24/2020.

PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (John Roller, Berkely, CA, 5/2008, 129,200 mi.) The car is in nice shape overall, runs and drives nicely and passed California smog testing (unusually) well. The interior is in very good shape with the exception of the cracks in the dashboard and the headliner has started to sag. The exterior is quite nice with a few warts when scrutinized. The car's "Carfax" report revealed a couple of years on the east coast at some point though otherwise it has had a California life - with the according lack of rust. The engine is not the original though is one of a comparable year with lower mileage - many parts were preemptively replaced when motor installed. (the original engine has been sitting on my bench full of new parts looking pretty for a while - its sale may be negotiable)

  • COMMENTS: I bought this car in 2001. It is my 5th SAAB 900 and my 1st Turbo. It had 105,000 miles on it when I bought it and the guy I bought it from told me it was a Commemorative Edition, which I had never heard of at that time. There is no brass plaque on the dashboard so I don't know how it prove or disprove that it is a CE but it does have the red box, the leather upholstery, the walnut dash, the leather gear shift knob with leather gaiter, the special wheels and 185 hp. It was not a happy car when I bought it--I don't know what kind of treatment it had had but after thousands of dollars of work on various things and a new transmission in June 2008, it is now running very well and is actually dependable now (knock on wood). The first 4 years I had it it had to be towed about 8 times for various reasons. Luckily my boyfriend, a half-Swedish techie, knows how to research and work on things and with his help and the good mechanics that I could find, the car seems to be happy now. Driving in the mountains of Colorado in winter of 2009, we hit an icy patch, lost control and the car did at least one 360° revolution, went backwards for awhile and then came to a stop on the shoulder of the road, all without harm to us, the car, or the other cars which were coming up behind us! Thanks to the driving skills of John and the car's handling we were able to just pull back onto the highway and go on. Now we feel a kind of bond with the car. The headlight windshield wipers work, the seat heaters work, the automatic door-locking system works, it doesn't leak oil, and the dash isn't even cracked! John has 'talked' to the car's computer (accessing the codes stored by the CPU) and has been able to ascertain, check up on, and correct some things. I hope that Saab will continue on and hope it will be in good hands with the new owner after GM's rough handling.

  • COMMENTS:I am the third and last owner of this car, it being the best SAAB ever built and the last of its kind, also the best number seeing as how I've become a believer in the power of the 13! I'll never sell it because the world simply does not know how great this car is and they value it not at all according to its true value and not just what it's worth on the market. This is my 6th SAAB and the 4th identical 900 turbo, black. Before this one I owned number 201 but sold it to a friend. This one is way better. It is taken care of by my favorite guys and gals at Scanwest Autosport in Seattle, they are the best! I've been taking my SAABs to them for over 15 years and have no complaints except Rob promised me the really cool new race turbo and I never got it. I drive it over Snoqualmie Pass all the time and pass everybody going up, I figure the cops won't be looking for someone doing a 100 or more on the way up, so I never speed on the way down. Unique, beautiful, and made by SWEDES before GM got their greedy hands on SAAB.

  • COMMENTS: Recently bought and shipped from Washington state, in great condition. Some issues are currently fixed. Turn a lot of curious heads specially in the south! For Sale 7/26/17.
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Darren Donley, Anacortes, WA, 4/2010, 68,040 mi. (Update 7/2016 78,180 mi.) My mother was the original owner, and my father kept the car in mint condition. It was originally purchased from European Motors in Anchorage, Alaska, and was garaged in Anchorage until I bought it in early 2009. I have the original sales stickers, front-end bra, manuals, and even a Saab mug! My father added a keyless entry system, but everything else is stock. It's in beautiful condition, but I've found two areas of rust since it lived in Alaska for so long. UPDATE: For sale 7/13/16. SOLD.

  • COMMENTS: Bought from Tim Rolfe in Denver Sept. 2012. Currently refurbishing interior and fixing a few deficits. Will send pics when competed. A few mods made by PO: Replaced the turbo/fuel computer (or APC) with a better aftermarket one (SPG9) that has higher limits on turbo pressure, and adjusts the fuel mixture better; Upgraded the turbo bypass valve, and replaced all vacuum hoses/ grommets; Replaced the shocks with adjustable Bilstien performance shocks; Upgraded headlights to 80/100 watt bulbs, using separate wiring relay kit.

  • COMMENTS: It came from North of New York about 3 years ago to Florida. Finally I just re-finished Engine/ suspension/ interior. It took a lot of time and money but it gave me great pleasure. This car is not as comfortable as modern car--some noise--but it is strong, unique design, reliable, easy to drive and original saabnism. Modifications: lower springs, 16' aero wheels, MSD, extra engine mount and car wash once a week.
UPDATE: This car was seen for sale again on ebay from a seller in Stirling, NJ. It sold on 07/01/10.
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT: (Dan Hino, Buckley, WA, 11/2009, 245,000 mi.) Bought from original owner on e-bay april 2004 with 151,000 miles on it. It was bought off the showrrom floor at Golden Rule Dealer target-buick-subaru-saab. I think this is in Idaho. I used it as a daily driver, 125 miles'day and it suffered a wide variety of highway mishaps.

From the saabnet listing: Poor thing had a string of bad luck. Badly cracked windshield; stereo froze up/code will not make it work. Light side swipe down driver's side, difficult to see unless up close except on top of wheel wells. Passenger seat reclines crooked because shaft from motor is broken. Driver's window does not go all the way up, switch had been causing trouble so not sure if it is the motor or the switch. Rear-ended on passenger side, lights still work lens broken. Bald tire, but includes 4 spare wheels. Clutch will not completely work as it is difficult or impossible to get into second more than a few times, and you have to stop to get into first. Goes into reverse and first, trouble with seconds then 3rd fourth and fifth fine. Runs great, turbo kicks in good. Could be driven away, but without 2nd there can be problems if you stop on a hill. Interior pretty nice, floor carpet a bit soiled. Drivers seat has some stitching that has come out. Has whaletail installed.

  • COMMENTS: I bought it from Marcus Wildey. Held onto it for a few years, got it running and nothing else. Just sold it on 10/30/2021 to Tyler Nay at Petersen Automotive in Skokie, IL. His intention is to restore.
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Marcus Wildey, Liberty, IN, 6/2010, 229,800 mi.)The car is currently unmodified and needs a few parts and repairs. I'm very excited to add it to my collection. I also have an '02 9-5 Aero, '88 900 8v 5-speed, '98 9000 CSE, and a '81 900 Turbo. Needless to say I love my Saabs. I plan on fixing the issues on the car and removing the SPG body kit and adding an Airflow kit and whale tail, doing 3" exhaust, more aggressive springs and shocks, and doing a 2.1 head and intake.

At 55,000 miles the car is in excellent condition and hasn't seen snow and very little rain in the last 12 years. Driven to several SAAB Owners Conventions since 1993 and came away with many Concours tropies. Additions include, APC Group 9 Box, KN Air Filter, Side Aero Moldings, Group 9 Exhaust. Have all parts replaced except 'Red Box'. The car is an absolute delight to drive and draws many comments. It's a true 'Classic'

  • COMMENTS: We are the second owners. The original owner bought the Saab at Ed Wolf Shaker Saab in Cleveland, Ohio on November 6, 1993. We have all of the Ohio service records from November 1993 to May 1999. All service records are routine service with no major repairs. The last recorded service of the Saab in Ohio was May 06, 1999 with 31,080 miles. The owner moved to Minnesota sometime between May 1999 and January 2000. The Saab was driven in Minnesota by the first owner from January 2000 to April 2003 and serviced by Morrie’s Saab in Minnetonka. We have all of the Morrie’s service records. All service records are routine service with no major repairs. We purchased the Saab on May 15, 2003 with 45,536 miles and drove it until November 6, 2005 when we placed the Saab in storage with 61,596 miles. During this time we regularly serviced the car at Morrie’s Saab and later at Andrew’s Saab in Princeton, Minnesota (all service records are available). We also had Andrew's Saab repair some rust by replacing metal on the of both doors (using a recommended Saab kit) and sandblasting and painting the lower section of the lift gate on April 9, 2005. At 63,650 miles, the Saab 900 is in excellent condition except for a loose cloth interior lining on ceiling and a broken radio.

PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Victoria R. Gradick, Carmel, IN, 5/2014, 131,200 mi.) I am the second owner. I acquired this car around 1998 from Indy Saab. She was showcased at the dealership and upon seeing her I immediately traded my new Saab in for her. Her previous owner had only put on 12,000 miles. Black Beauty is in beautiful condition inside and out. After all these years the leather still smells wonderful when I open the door in the morning! I have made no modifications. I keep her garaged and do not drive her in the winter months due to the salt on the roads. I plan on keeping her for a long time.

  • COMMENTS: Bought this beautiful car last summer and had it shipped from California. It is a beauty!
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Ken Lawyer, San Jose, CA, 4/2013, 118,400 mi.) Owned this car almost 3 years. Found locally and snapped it up before others had a chance. Bought to replace my beloved black '84 900T 3-door that I sold to a friend and subsequently missed. Have a pristine Ruby Red 900T convertible as a sister to this car. No mods except previous owner installed a CD radio. Update (4/09/2013): I purchased the car locally years ago as a replacement for my black '84 900T 3-door which I had sold. I realized how great a replacement a Commemorative Edition would be and somehow found one close by. After test driving the car in the rain, I was in the 'thought process' in the owner's kitchen when the phone calls began. I realized I needed to decide here & now to buy the car. Since then I have had much work completed on the car. The body is nearly perfect (no accidents, no rust), just a crease in the right rear fender wheel arch. Paint is original & quite nice, as is the interior. Mechanically the car is in very good shape, as are the electricals and interior.

  • COMMENTS: The car was purchased in South Carolina by the first owner who drove it about 90,000. I bought it in 1999 in Washington, DC. To my knowledge no modifications have been made. Most parts that have been replaced over the years have been done so with parts from other old SAABs so that everything appears original (ex, Clarion CD player, wiper transmition). The car has been parked on the street most of its life but is now garaged full time. The car runs well, but we bought a new car and can't keep two in Manhattan (car is currently located in Princeton, NJ).For Sale 1/20/09

  • COMMENTS: We just bought this wonderful Saab in the end of May 2010. Flew to Wyoming to get it. On the way home my wife and I decided to go see Mount Rushmore. Unfortunately our journey took us through a deer infested national forest. So less than eight hours after buying this immaculate 900CE my wife hit a deer with it. It is probably better that she was driving because if it had been me I would have been driving much faster and we probably would have sustained more damage. For hitting a deer there is remarkably little damage! Took out the plastic grill broke the passenger side headlight and mounting assembly and bent the front of the hood some. I have already found a new grille and expect to find the headlight assembly for the price I will pay soon. We have an excellent automotive restoration body shop near us—Manns Restoration. They have worked on my other Saabs before and do excellent work. They have assured me that they can fix my hood but do not want to do it until I have the headlight.
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Luis Rosario, Buffalo, WY, 9/2009, 94,500 mi.) This car is competly stock, I was looking for an SPG when I found this one. My intentions was to add the SPG ground effects to this car along with the 16' saab wider wheels. Now I decided to sell the car. I do have the SPG ground effects and three of the wheels {fedex lost one of them) if anybody is intersted. I bought this car in Conneticut and drove it back to Wyoming in 2008.

  • COMMENTS: This car came from Florida and was bought by previous owner from Swedish Motors in Marietta PA in 1996. It had 30,000 miles on it. He then drove it 100K miles and bought a new 9-3. I then bought the car in Nov. 2004 with 130K on it and have done general maintenance items. I'm the third owner. Brass plaque is on the glovebox. Build # is 56, plaque is 113. I modified the sunroof to a manual when the splines stripped on the cables. Has aftermarket Blaupunkt CD only.

  • COMMENTS: Car is in the midst of restoration. Body had dings & dents from 28 years of life. Paint is oxidized from the Southern California sun however the car is completely rust free and will be garaged winters so hopefully will stay that way. Late in 2021 the car is undergoing a “windows-out” full body repair of all the dings & little dents & a repaint with the original single stage black paint. Overall running & mechanical condition is very good with the exception of a needed redo of the suspension which is almost finished. The interior is also very good however a redo of the sun damage dash and aged electrics and fiddly bits are presently undergoing a full aesthetic and functional restoration with the help of some very experienced Saab people in Connecticut & Massachusetts.

  • COMMENTS: I acquired the car in February, 2011. Contrary to the previous owner's post, the car in not in remotely good condition. The interior, paint, suspension, transmission, etc. are all in terrible condition. Car is currently undergoing a full restoration with a projected completion date of January, 2012.
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Steven Van Orden, Austin, TX, 5/2008, 167,000 mi.) I am a car dealer and while at auction I came across this 900 CE. I was completely unaware it was a CE, I just wanted a classic 900 for myself. I am in the process of restoring it fully. When my 900CE was at auction in Phoenix it was covered in dust/dirt so you could not tell the paint underneath was still glossy. I actually drove it off the auction lot and it does not need any major repairs. Not bad for $500.00. I believe I am now the 3rd owner. Receipts dating back to 2001 have it in Arizona. I plan on having this SAAB for a very long time! My best buy ever and its exactly what I want!

  • COMMENTS: This VERY CLEAN example was sold new in Los Angeles and was shipped to Vermont in 2011 at 97k miles. Last services in spring 2016 included fluid changes, A/C charge, and a tune-up. This Amazingly original and unique Saab 900 turbo is offered with a clean Carfax report, original manuals, and extensive service records. The car carries a clean and recently smogged California title! Photos show matching VIN stickers on the hood, trunk lid, doors, and quarter panels. There are no obvious signs of paintwork, filler, or prior accident repairs, and we have not found any corrosion. A quarter-sized paint blemish on the hood is shown in the gallery. Looks as if an overaggressive buffing wheel faded it but we decided to leave and not repaint to keep originality. he dash is extensively cracked underneath an after-market cover and is shown. The original Clarion radio is in place and was recently serviced by So Cal Audio with an MP3/smart-phone jack added and 3m, top of line window tint also completed by So Cal. For sale 10/23/17.
PREVIUOS REGISTRANT (Michael Flanigan, Shelburne, VT, 10/2011, 101,000 mi.) Car is in very good condition throughout. Cars shows with new 16" alloys wheels. PREVIUOS REGISTRANT (Scot Hunt, West Jordan, UT, 8/2008, 93,800 mi.)This is a beautiful original 1993 900CE. PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (anonymous, West Kingston, RI, 10/2008, 90,000 mi.-in 2004) I saw this car on eBay a couple of years ago (2004) and went to look at it in Fairfield, NJ. The car was in fairly rough shape, the interior was moldy and the car obviously leaked rain water. It appeared to be stock. The car had a salvage title from what looked to be a fairly hefty hit to the front end, but had been repaired. Vehicle also had rear end damage with slight sheet metal crushing to the rear quarter panels. Hatch was a replacement from an earlier model 900—I recall MY1988, but I could be wrong on that. Looked like it lived a hard life...

  • COMMENTS: Car #58 lived in Tucson Arizona from 1993 to 2003 driving only 54,000 miles. From 2003 to 2012 it was in Vermont and Rhode Island before moving to Massachusetts in 2013. I purchased the car with 89,000 original miles from Dennis Bibeau in Upton MA in January of 2014. It was a pleasure meeting Dennis and his family and talking Saab. The car was picked up in Boston in a snow storm and trucked across the country in minus 40 below temperatures through North Dakota arriving in Seattle 5 days later! The East Coast salted roads did no favors for #58. All new brakes were installed along with a new rear axle and EM brake cables and brake hoses & lines. The front wheel bearings and ball joints were replaced and a new distributor was installed along with a host of other hoses and small items. The right front fender was repaired and the fender, hood and wheels were painted. The roof head liner/sunroof was replaced and repaired and the passenger reclining seat motor was replaced. #58 is ready to go.
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Dennis Bibeau, Upton, MA, 2/2013, 79,100 mi.) Picked this car up in January 2013. It had been sitting for a year due to ignition, clutch and tranny (shift rod?) issues and just neglect. Maybe more which I haven't uncovered. Have already removed the entire interior, shampooed all the carpeting while out, had the front seat professionally stitched and treated. Fixed the ignition with a new OEM key cylinder, replaced the shift rod and took out the one that detonated and have replaced the clutch master. Still no clutch so picked up a new OEM clutch slave. Hopeful to get a clutch working to see how the transmission is. The good news... the car has only 79K for mileage. When I took out the interior I couldn't believe the condition of the padding and floor beneath. Like they just came out of the factory. Very solid car with a small amount of front right fender rust caused by what looks like a door ding on the edge of the fender lip allowed to grow. The body needs a serious detailing. Just picked up a near perfect dash and hope to have that in soon. SOLD 2014.

  • COMMENTS:Seen for sale on saabnet. From the listing: Car is a great daily driver has been for the last three and half years. The car does have minor cosmetic issues due to daily use. These include small paint chips, some curb rash on the rims, headliner needs to be replaced, small cracks in dash, some re-stiching of the leather seats. Despite these issues the car runs great, has tons of power and handles wells. It has great potential to be restored in the hands of the right owner. For sale 2/8/2012
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Bryan Nielsen, Seattle, WA, 6/2007, 172,000 mi.) I'm the third owner of the car. I bought it in 2000 in Boston. • COMMENTS:I purchased the '93 900T in the fall of 2006 from a woman in Chiago. My insurance company noted its status as a CE when a premium renewal notice came. Neither I not the seller knew that it was CE at the time I bought it, as the plaque was missing. To be sure, I noticed the walnut dash face, the APC red box, etc., but thought they were add-ons, the same way that the factory aero kit that was on it was an add-on. The car got a new head gasket and timing chain at 108k miles. Because of a pending lifestyle change, I placed the car up for sale and it has gone to am experienced Saab tech at a dealership in Ann Arbor. He apppreciates the car's status and value.

  • COMMENTS: I am this CE's former third and present fifth owner. Bought the car from the second owner, a Saab tech, at the dealer that serviced my other Saabs. He purchased it from the original owner after the car came in with a bad transmission which was subsequently replaced with a remanufactured unit. While the car was completely rust free, had all original paint and close to perfect seats, it needed to be freshened up. I did a minor exterior and interior restoration... new bumper covers and side pieces all the way around, new headliner and dash as well as having the felt door inserts reglued using the original fabric. Even had the original plaque redone. Car is bone stock except for a few factory Saab accessories... air vent covers, sunroof deflector, wood shift knob etc. Ended up selling the car to an enthusiast in late 2006 to "thin the herd" but was told If he ever went to sell it, he would want me to have first shot at it. Fast forward to the Summer of 2013 and after a few phone calls, I was on my way to Denver to pick up the car and trailer it back home. Was amazed that he had only put close to 3K miles on the car over the years, most of which came from the drive from DC back to Colorado. Car was in as good a shape if not better then when I sold it all those years back. Happy to say that I am once again the proud owner of this great Saab!

  • COMMENTS: I posted an inquiry on the Saab Network about purchasing a 900 hatchback, preferably 1990 or newer. I received a response from New Mexico. A 1993 CE. It sounded rougher than a I really wanted to tackle but I had purchased and am restoring 1994 CE #64 convertible and couldn’t resist. I had the car shipped to Georgia and my concerns were confirmed: sunroof broken, boost and fuel gauges broken, vacuum lines in disarray, all leather beyond repair, etc, etc. But no rust. (New Mexico sand/dust in every conceivable location, all moving/sliding body parts) But it ran, no smoke or water in the oil. I have taken out the seats and console to better access things and am starting the restoration. I’ve figured out the sunroof and have ordered parts to repair it. The body has a number of dents that didn’t appear in the pre-purchase photos but which will not create a big problem for a repaint. This is my 14th Saab, first non-convertible. I look forward to bringing it back to life and former glory.

PREVIOUS REGISTRANT ( Larry Vermeulen, Helena, CA, 12/2007, 110,000 mi.) I purchased this car in 2001 from the 2nd owner with 35,000 miles on it. It spent most of its life the garage of the 1st owner's 2nd or 3rd home. The car was repainted by the original dealer to metallic bronze. They completley took it apart so as to mask only those things they couldn't remove, like VIN stickers. It was an excellent paint job and thus, this is the only non-black CE from the dealer that I'm aware of. It was in immaculate condition when I bought it but is my daily driver so has picked up a few minor scratches and some wear-and-tear. It does not leak a drop of the synth oil I run in both the engine and trans. Never failed mechanically. UPDATE: Sold 12/30/11.

  • COMMENTS: Purchased from the second owner, a SAAB Master Mechanic in July of 2000. It had 82,424 miles. I have added a SPG9 stainless cat/back exhaust, K&N Drop in filter, Rising Rate FPR, AID, blue injectors (24#) and Viggen bypass valve. The original Red Box has been adjusted to stage two at SPG9 (Dave Kennedy). Dave also rebuilt the turbo and upgraded the waste gate actuator with a quick release system (no more cotter pin!). I had other modifications, but have since removed and now like the way it runs (Nology Wires, MSD Ignition and Hyper-boost bypass valve). These mods caused me to have to back off the 'P' pot in the Red Box.

They sell mostly dealer trades. In the back is the Bargain Lot. I saw the tail end of a black 900 turbo back there. My son and I ventured back and checked the car over. It looked solid and rust free with glossy black paint! A little dirty and sad, but nice. My son said 'Dad, get this!' So we went in and talked to a sales person. She said 'It's a '93. I think that one is broken' and I replied 'ya, I'm sure it is. Thats the way I like them.' She got the owner of the lot. He said he picked it up in the middle of the winter not sure whats wrong with it but thought it was a bad turbo. I asked what he was planning to do with it and he said he was going to junk it and I could have it for $100.00!!! I thought this was an incredible deal on a nice 900 turbo and of course said 'I'll take it!' I still didnt know what I had at this point. Driving it home, my son pulls out from the glove box a brass plate that read Commemorative Edition 82 of 325. I was floored!

PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Joshua Silliman, Kennett Square, PA, 11/2007 U:7/2013, 72,000 mi.)I am the proud fourth owner of 900CE #86. It drives (and looks) like a dream as it has been well taken care of by its previous owners and I absolutely will carry on that legacy. It is serviced regularly at the Saab dealership nearby in Delaware, garage kept, routinely hand-washed/detailed, and never driven in winter. Black Saab rules!

Update, 7/2013: Visually, the car has been modified and fitted with 16" wheels, SPG ground effects and wheel arch flares, vent covers, and smoke side-indicators. The engine was removed and received a stage 1 upgrade and various new components installed. The engine bay was completely stripped and any corrosion found, sorted. It was then resealed and painted. The entire underside of the car was stripped and re-undercoated. The entire interior was removed and any interior corrosion that was beginning to form, sorted. Dynamat insulation installed. Interior door cards refurbished. The cars' entire suspension was overhauled including all new control arms, rotors, calipers, discs, rear axle, springs, shocks, etc. This classic 900 CE is better than new and good to go for another 20 years!
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Jordan Stahl, Davenport, IA, 9/2007, 55,400 mi.) I am the third owner of this beautiful SAAB. I bought it from a friend's grandma. She told me that she had a lot of the service records still and they had bought it from a local SAAB dealership at the time. The person who owned the vehicle who traded it into the SAAB dealer was a Technician actually at the SAAB dealership. This car was kept with TLC and aside from a few common problems the car is basically mint condition, inside and out. It still even has the leather owners manual binder with all the owners manuals, umbrella, radio removal tools, and even an ad for the Commemorative Edition.

I love this car with all of my heart. I drive this car 60 miles a day, and to Raleigh every weekend. It gets 26-28 mpg depending on your driving habits. The paint is polishable and Waxible paint. It also has a set of really deep BFG tires. This car has a T code in the vin which is a very rare engine code that only 4% of all 900 turbos came with. For sale 12/8/11

  • COMMENTS: Bought the car from its previous owner on eBay. Drove her back from Boston to NY without any issues. Runs a a bit too hot in traffic and turbo lagging a little bit. Some rust over the right wheel well and some minor issues with the electrics. She just needs a bit of TLC really, but I've finally found my baby and I'm going to do as much as I am able to get her back to her prime. She has a date with destiny with Roland on Atlantic Avenue in August...
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Betzner, Walpole, MA, 11/2008, 143,200 mi.) Car was bought on ebay in Nov of 2008 off a fellow member on the registry in Central MA. Car is drivable and use it as a weekend car when I get bored of my camry. Engine and clutch are in great condition. I believe I am the 5th owner as it spent most of its live in Illinois. Car has no mods except for radio since it would not accept the factory code. Paint is in great condition and still shines like new.
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Jeff Blaney, Milford, MA, 10/2008, 142,800 mi.) This car runs great. It starts right up, idles smoothly, and drives with good power, especially when the turbo kicks in. It shifts smoothly as it should. It has excellent tires, all new brake rotors and pads and new Bilstien performance shocks on all four wheels. I have been driving this car for a while now and I would not hesitate to drive this car across the country in its current condition.
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Barry Martin, St. Louis, MO, 2/2008, 142,800) The car has been maintained by SaabTech in Chicago and is in good condition. New tires in front and new windshield and complete exhaust. The car has been a daily driver and with 225 hp runs great on the highway.

  • COMMENTS: Purchased from Marc Kenton during pandemic. Could not see or drive the car, but purchased it happily. It had many problems and Scanwest has worked on it frequently over the last few months. It is nearly perfect now. Paint is almost all corrected and/or redone. I won't go into all of the details of things that needed doing, but it is running VERY well - just need to make sure the vacuum advance, distributor, and air mass meter are set. Of course, plastic and rubber bits fail in series. Her name is Enid. We are very happy. 10,000 miles together already. My daily driver for the next 25 years..

  • COMMENTS: Purchased from Country Imports in Neosho, WI. Light rust on the wheel arches, bottoms of the door, and in front of the rear wheels. Needs some attention, but drives very well. Good to be back in a C900 again! I would like to be contacted by the previous owner to ask him some questions and return his garage door opener.
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Michael Stock, Milwaukee, WI, 11/2007, 86,900 mi.) This car was originally ordered in South Dakota. I bought this car from a Registry ad in Oct. 07. Its about an 8 out of 10. All stock, very little rust. I plan to restore and update service/maintainence, and use as my daily driver. I also own a 01 Viggen. Which is basically gives me the best of both worlds. • COMMENTS: I rescued this car from going to the junkyard. The previous owner kept up the car mechanically but neglected it cosmetically. She gave up on the car when the transmission failed. I had the trans rebuilt, practically hosed down the interior, had the leather seats repaired, and windshield replaced. Next up is installing an uncracked dash and having the headliner recovered. I now own the first and last model year of the 900, my other car is a 79 EMS.

  • COMMENTS: Purchased August 2016; I'm the 3rd owner. Originally sold by a dealer in TN. The 2nd owner bought it in TN in 1999 and imported it to Canada. She drove it all over eastern Canada and New England, but it hasn't been used much in the past few years. Still present: the brass Comm.Ed plate (#119), original window sticker, original manuals package. Overall, it runs and drives ok and is in pretty good shape for the age and mileage. It looks like it hadn't seen much winter use, appears to be the original paint, drive train, etc. Minimal rust that I've found. Time and weather have taken the expected cosmetic toll plus a few questionable repairs. Further evaluation while driving it will determine the path forward. It needs a thorough cleaning first and there's a long list of little things that need to be fixed. I'm sure refreshing the suspension and brakes will come soon and no doubt the motor will need a re-gasket at least in the near future.
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Patricia Cranton, Hatchet Lake, Nova Scotia, Canada Canadian flag, 8/2016, 186,000 mi.) Good condition, well maintained. Seems to run well but needs a good cleaning. Presently part of an estate sale. For sale 8/20/2016. Update: SOLD.

  • COMMENTS: I just bought this one from the original owner. Accident free and rust free coming from California. Presently all stock except for a replacement radio and tinted windows. The body of this car is so clean that it looks like it is just a few years old with minor blemishes on the paint. Underneath is spotless. The beauty of being stored in a dry climate out of the sun. The challenge will be whether to make tasteful modifications or keep it stock. As I’ve always modified my cars to a certain extent, this one will receive enhancements too, but nothing that couldn’t be undone. First on the list is a pair of E-code headlights. Already installed. The originals were ok, but I prefer H4 bulbs to the stock 9004s. Over the winter while the car sits I plan to install a T5 ignition system from a 9000. Sorry to the purists, but mapping timing accurately and delivering direct ignition spark are improvements that will extend the life of the car. I will also address the dry leather that has started to separate at the seams on the driver’s seat.

The car needs replacement of the hatchback, the windshield, and the headlight covers (rock chips). I have an excellent replacement hatchback and am working on replacement of the windshield and headlights. The drivers seat leather and upper dash also need replacing. It is otherwise in excellent condition throughout. The engine compartment and undercarriage are immaculate. The car is all original (except for the stereo). I bought the car for both my son and I to drive. After drving it for a few weeks, I suspect my son may not get to drive it all that much!

UPDATE 7/2013: Formerly very nice 900 turbo CE, now excellent donor/parts car after collision. Accident damaged hood radiator, and front left of car/airbag deployed. Engine and transmission in tact, pristine from A pillar back (to quote SAAB specialty mechanic).

Wanted to buy in my area (NY) but was informed by the salesman I was too young to own such a car (I was 23 at the time – not sure I disagree these days but I’m glad I made such an “immature” decision to purchase the CE). I’ve owned 4 Saabs in total. This is the only one that made it this long.

  • COMMENTS: Purchased from Bob Conolty in Apex in April of 2021. Previous owners per history were SAAB mechanics. My favorite car to drive, it gets driven all around town and we frequent Cars and Coffee as well. In the past year it has received a new fuel pump, muffler/mid pipe, distributor cap/rotor button, plugs/wires, head unit and speakers. Great car overall!
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Bob Conolty, Apex, NC, 1/2008, 174,500 mi.) I am her 3rd owner. Both previous owners were certified SAAB mechanics. Currently everything works on the car, and it is in very good condition inside & out. ZERO rust! It is a dream to drive :-) I am considering selling the car ONLY because I would like to restore my 3 other classic/vintage SAABs (a '72 96 V4, a '79 99 GL 2-Door, and a '79 900 GLE 5-Door). I certainly don't need 4 cars, but if I can find a way to keep them all, I will. I don't wish to sell any of them, but I may have to :-( Any offers?????

  • COMMENTS: I'm the original owner of this special car, having first seen it on the turntable at the New York International Auto Show. It represents the best of the old SAAB, with great ergonomics, practicality, and performance -- the end of a 15-year run for the company, before GM. This car is a daily driver. I've done oil changes religiously every 2500. The frame is rust free and in good shape. It has a Group 6 APC box and exhaust, with K&N filter, new alternator, and new compressor. The original clutch lasted 165,000 miles. The original walnut dash and seat leather are in great shape. I did replace the driver's seat, first with a manual model, and then with a refurbished unit from a '92 900. Most work has been done due to parts wearing out from normal wear and tear. Recently spent a good bit to refurbish 2nd and 3rd gear by an excellent mechanic in MA. It now runs better than it did originally, with great acceleration. If anyone has recommendations on mechanics for additional performance upgrades, please send a note. BTW, my friend Bill has the museum version of this car. It is a gem."

  • COMMENTS: Car is at the end of its useful life as a driver. All 4 wheelwells have severe cancerous rust, the door bottoms are shot, both quarters behind the doors have holes in the rocker that you can reach up into, beachball-sized dent on drivers rear quarter panel, and the passengers side control arm area is very punky, and will need attention. Parted; 2011.
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Tom Lane, Charlotte, VT, 3/2011, 209,000 mi.) I bought this car from someone who purchased it from Meg. Fairly solid. Has rust through top edge of one rear wheel fender and small rust hole inside passenger door. Neither prevented it from passing inspection. Paint is still shiny. Has dish shaped dent in drivers side rear quarter panel. Looks like it might just pop out. Engine runs well doesn't use oil. Has started missing under load may need new spark plugs or wires or possible timing?? Turbo engages smoothly. Rear passenger (drivers side) seat needs restitching as well as drivers seat. Ceiling upholstery has started sagging near the rear. Has short-shift installed on transmission. Suspension is solid. Has original rims in good condition. I bought this last spring for my daughter to have for summer transportation. I'd hang onto it and restore it if I had time and $$. Just bought a new truck though so...

  • COMMENTS: I Just purchased this car to add to my SAAB collection (8/2008). I will be the 3rd owner of the car and its only done a bit over 100K miles. It's a 1993 900 CE but does not have the brass plate. Oddly enough it was purchased new in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

The car was delivered on 11/11/1993 and I have all (EVERY SINGLE ONE!) service record from 12/1993 until this year. Pretty neat for a guy like me with multiple mystery history c900's.

As the car was a Canadian delivery car, it has a sticker on the passenger side window that says 15/15 -- and the lady I bought it from said that it is because it is 15/15 of the special commemorative editions sold in Canada that year. I thought this was incorrect and it just happened to be a black/tan 900T. She thought it was called a "Sport" edition and not a commemorative by the way. However when I checked the VIN list on this site it is indeed build # 146 of the VIN #'s listed. It does not have the brass plaque so I am not sure what # it is in terms of the "series". The lady said it never had one and I checked the owners manual packet, not included.

The car started in Toronto with owner #1 and then #2, then to Atlanta, then to Nashville with owner #2, and now to me, owner #3.

The car is stock with the exception of some wheelarches that I think are the SAAB aerokit wheelarches; however the car does not have the SPG side panels so they go all the way down to the lower edge of the car/mudflaps on the front... first I've never seen this. Not sure why they were added and the lady I bought it from said they were on the car from new delivery in Canada per original owner. I'm going to have to do some work on the arches as a couple were "fixed" with screws and have plastic cracks as a result. They look bad. I plan on removing them and putting standard narrow 900 wheelarch strips on.

Couple other oddities about the car: mileage is in kilometers (180Kms show and its correct based on svc history), the speedo is in km, and even the fuel gauge is slightly different (I'll take a pic but the fractions / %'s of the fuel level are in euro-code or something). It had the headlights replaced a few years ago from an Atlanta SAAB dealer with the regular US lights so no e-codes.

Everything works on the car except: AC, pass side window is slow, 4th gear synchro is almost toast (but trans feels great otherwise).

There looks to have been a persistent leak in the trunk, the left floor under spare tire has rotted unfortunately as the drain was clogged above the exhaust (not uncommon) but the rest of the floorpan is solid. Pass side door has some rust at bottom. Drivers door is good with only a little rust. Note that there is a repair from 1997 showing that a SAAB dealer "repaired corrosion on bottom of drivers door at no charge under warranty" -- in only 4 years! That is prob why the drivers door is much better than the pass. Since the car is black, I'll probably replace the pass door with an unrusted one and repaint the right side of the car only since color match is relatively simple with black.

There is also a surface rust beginning on the underside / pass front suspension area. Not down by the a-arms but actually under the hood on the shock tower area. I did check it very thoroughly where the a-arms mount/frame rails connect -- its very surface now but I will be attacking it ASAP so as to not become worse / terminal.

The window with the Commemorative Edition decal and the walnut dash have been swapped to another car (red SPG).

  • COMMENTS:Just picked this dream car up from a fellow in Bridgeport, CT on March 11th for a dream price. Cosmetically it leaves a lot to be desired—the paint is rough, the headliner is all but gone, all that's left of the fog lights is smashed cases and hanging wires. There is rust in the wheel wells, and along the bottom of the inside of the doors. Mechanically, however, the car is incredible. Handles well, strong engine, and wow! Does that turbo ever pull! Looking forward to bringing this already great car back to it's original finesse.

PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Rob Stridde, Boulder, CO, 4/2010, 206,000 mi.) My son totaled my '91 Turbo about a month ago. Two good things happened with this accident. The air bag worked and my son only had some rash from the detonation. Secondly, I started surfing Craigslist for another Turbo with air bag. I found this car several weeks ago in Denver, it was not advertised as a CE nor do I believe the owner knew it was one. I knew it had right year, paint, leather, wheels, suspension. No wood dash or leather shift knob. I bought it because he had just had the tranny and clutch done at Mile High Saab, it hauled ass, and it was really cheap. Found out after checking this site that is was a CE! Another one surfaces for the Registry.

UPDATE: For sale 7/18/11. Third owner CE. Maintained at dealer and Mile Hi Saab since new. All service records since 129K. Sold in Denver and spent a few years in Seattle, now back in CO. New clutch and tranny at 176K by Mile Hi. Tune up at 194K with compression 140/135/130/135. Turbo pulls strong, runs great. Beautiful body and paint, no rust, 9.5/10. Good tires and fresh windshield. Deferred maintenance: power steering rack leaks but works fine. A/C compressor dead. Interior leather was allowed to get dry and has some seam splits and shrinkage but not trashed. Unusual CE with no wood dash. Typical Saab flaws. Original key and owners packet. Updated stereo. SOLD.

  • COMMENTS: I just purchased this car off craigslist. It has been sitting for a while, with a reported bad fuel pump. It doesn't run and I'm going to do a full renovation. Body is in pretty good shape. Interior is in need of complete replacement. I hope to have it back up and running by the fall. UPDATE: Car has all original paint, never modified and has the coveted brass plaque with its manufacture number in tact. Very rare crack free dash, AC runs cold, power seats, sunroof and windows all work. Mostly driven on weekends for fun. Starts every time. Tires have less than 1K on them. It has standard Saab issues - needs a headliner, front seats show their age, and right turn signal works only if you hold the indicator. Has some rust on the hood hinges, but I didn't fix it because I didn't want to alter the original paint. Has a small dent on the rear driver's side. For sale 7/22/12

  • COMMENTS: I bought this car in April 2014. I am happy to say it still resides in Brooklyn, looks and drives great and gets compliments everywhere it goes. I absolutely love this car! All of the performance modifications made by the previous owner have been kept. All necessary repairs have been made including; clutch, slave cylinder, wheel bearings, brake calipers pads & rotors, battery, entire AC system, steering wheel clock spring and headliner. Its riding on 17x7" Racing Hart wheels with Kumho Ecsta SPT 215/40ZR/17 tires. I also have an 16" Aero wheel set with brand new Sumitomo ZR tires I will probably install soon. The interior has been swapped out for a charcoal grey one from an '88 900 turbo. The driver's seat is charcoal grey and from a 9000 Aero. I reconditioned and installed rear window louvers. I have a fully reconditioned an SPG kit but so far have only installed the bumper extensions. I like the way it looks and may save the remaining panels on a classic convertible sometime in the future. My other current cars are a 1991 9000 turbo, 1995 9000 aero and a 2002 Viggen convertible. It is safe to say I am a SAAB Nut!
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Eric Opus Carlsen, Brooklyn, NY, 7/2012, 150,000 mi.)I love my SAABo!! Restoration begins Spring 2009! Safe motoring out there!

UPDATE: For sale 7/16/12 This car is a fixer-upper job. Needs TLC. It is just over 150k miles. Needs the usual maintenance items—brake work, front rack, tires, that sort of thing. Interior needs work—it is old and tired. Last year, one of the engine mounts was replaced, and the entire undercarriage was worked on—sport lower springs, bilstein sport shocks, poly and rubber bushings all around, plus ball joints. Parts bought from Saabsite and installed by master tech Roland, of Swedish Saab Service in Brooklyn, NY. Roland has been the mechanic on the car for the 7 years I have owned it. Exhaust was replaced with single piece sport exhaust from Swedish Dynamics, with a Magnaflo cat converter. 3.0bar fuel regulator compliments the Commemorative APC box. , and there is a Bosch turbo bypass not yet installed. Electronics installed are all Pioneer brand: 4 speakers made for the stock speaker positions, and there are 4 extra speakers, with preamp, and amp. I have 6 middle panels of the Aero kit I could throw in for a bit extra. I had the dream to restore it, but I am not working. Hope it will be restored by a Saab nut.

This is my every day car. It was rear-ended in 2002 and got a new hatch. Apart from a couple of door dings on the passenger side from when it was broken into, it's in great shape and I keep it that way. • COMMENTS:So this the 3rd time I'm considering selling this particular 900 CE. I'm the original owner. Purchased from a dealer in New England in 94. Per the existing comments, I sold it twice already. The last time being in 2010 to Ken Karika. Ken found the car on the SAABCE site and purchased it from me the first time he saw the car. The body was in good shape but it wasn't running well and had multiple issues beyond my abilities to fix. As Ken states he brought the car back to an excellent working condition and was using it as a daily driver with a short commute for a couple of years. He drove the car to Miramar California. Ken was leaving the military and his wife was only allowing one project cars return home with him. True to his word he offered to contact me if he ever sold the car. In late 2011 I was on a business trip to San Diego and met with Ken and purchase my old friend again for the THIRD time. I drove it back cross country. For Sale 09/31/2016.
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Ken Karika, San Diego, CA, 7/2010, 97,200 mi.) Originally a New Hampshire car that found its way down to Charlotte, NC. Found her for sale on the CE Registry. I picked this up from the original owner after assuring him I was going to take good care and restore her. Since the car had been sitting for four years, she has been mechanically renewed. Driven daily. Planning on doing a restoration once my son begins showing some interest in working on cars.
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Chris Champlin, Charlotte, NC, 11/2009, 85,600 mi.) Original owner, bought new from dealer, sold it after a front-end accident to a friend/auto body shop owner and collector that wanted it because of the CE status, and I ended up buying it back from it because I missed it so much and he needed room to by a Ferarri. Truly fun and unique car to drive. Fast forward 10+ years and a pick-up truck, family car and topless jeep and I've been neglecting the SAAB, not running it, nor putting any money into it on cosmetics. Interior is in good shape, car runs great, needs new hood or at least paint job of hood, rock it it a few years ago and never had it fixed so it's a huge scab in the hood paint now. Only has 85,600 miles on it as I stopped driving it as a primary back in the late 90's. Needs a good home with someone who can spend a grand or more bringing it back. 4 brand new Pirelli tires, new exhaust. Email me with any decent offers, I'm not trying to get a lot for it but would rather sell it to someone who would appreciate it. Has current NC inspection.

PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Terry Anhorn, Littleton, CO, 12/2008, 112,000 mi.) I have owned 10 SAABs with this car being my favorite, by far. I purchased it in Denver 6 years ago with 70k miles. It is in excellant condition, zero rust, it's my daily driver and gets 26 mpg in town back and forth to work. It is all original excepting the stereo which I replaced with an identical unit. Best SAAB ever!

  • COMMENTS: From what I've figured out from Carfax, I'm the 4th owner of this car. The car apparently was crashed badly in 1998 as it has a reconstructed title and the front right fender has a different VIN, but whoever fixed it did an amazing job. No modifications have been made to the car other than a K&N air filter, and it's still running strong and being used as my daily driver.
Update (5/2011): The good: engine and turbo can PULL, tight suspension turns crisply, new transmission 5 years ago, leather interior is nice with a few popped stitches but no rips or stains, full service records from a specialist Saab mechanic through my 8 years of ownership and some before, Nokian winter tires, assorted spare parts, extra goodies like original dealership window sticker and brochures. The bad: reconstructed title from an accident before my ownership. The front right body panel and hood were apparently replaced and are starting to rust even though the rest of the car is rust free. Car is fun and drivable as is, but rusting panels will need attention. For sale 5/11/11.
UPDATE (10/08/11): Just sold the car to a new owner in NJ who intends to do the body work to make it better. I told him about saabce.com, and he said he would try to register and update when he had some nice pictures showing the result.

PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (James Finch, Arlington, VA, 9/2013, 129,000 mi.) Purchased for $3k via private sale based on recommendation by AutoScandia in Herndon VA. Clean Carfax history. Car had been garaged for the past 4 to 5 years and driven occasionally. Has short shift and red box. Clutch replaced a year or so before. Previous owner had maintained the car very well at AutoScandia in Herndon VA, they know and love this car. Overall in great condition. New headliner etc. Some minor body work dings exist. Nothing worth worrying about. Included original 180/325 Brass Plate. AutoScandia in Herndon VA gave the car a full service, fixed AC to new standard, installed new water pump and a new heat shield. That cost a little more than I had hoped. But she drives fantastically well. I anticipate low milage but regular use. I intend to enjoy driving and baby her as best I can.

UPDATE 2016, mileage 132,000: I was having too many repair issues on the CE and ended up selling it to one of the mechanics at AutoScandia (Louis), Herndon VA. He was going to slowly fix all the issues and keep the car on the road.

  • COMMENTS:I bought the car new in 1993 as a replacement for my 1984 Turbo. 14 years and 197,000 miles later 'The Black Bird' is still running on the original turbo(perfect)and has needed very little in the way of major repairs other than the usual things that are expected to wear out through use (ie: clutch (1), brake pads & rotors, exhaust system, alternator (1), and other bits and pieces that one would expect over time). The car is very solid, quiet, powerful, and a joy to drive every day and in all sorts of weather. The only major work was an engine top end rebuild at about 160,000 mi at which time I also replaced the original clutch & pressure plate. Oil and filter are changed every 3,000 miles. I've done no real modifications to the car as I've always found it to be a well balanced design as delivered from the factory, capable of supporting my many activities and changing personalities as necessary. I say this after starting off with a '76' 99 3door followed by an '84'900T 3door which were great cars. The '93 is the best of the bunch, being the most refined example of a long lived configuration . I only wish I could make it last forever. Now, if SAAB would come out with a 9-5 3-door with all-wheel drive and a 6-speed trans. For sale 1/10/08

  • COMMENTS: This is my second 900 Turbo CE and my fourth 900 Turbo overall. The previous 3 all went over 240,000 miles. I purchased my first Commemorative Edition in 1996 with 35,000 miles. That one did not have the Commemorative plaque, and I tried in vain to verify the number. I met 4 other Commemorative owners at the 1997 SOC in Waterville Valley, NH. Our picture (5 CE's) appeared later that year in the SAAB USA owners magazine. After more than 200,000 miles I retired it, and found this one #186. I drive this rarely, though it may do winter duty this year.

  • COMMENTS: I purchased the car over the internet in October 2008 from a fellow saab enthusiast who had a few CE's. The car sat for awhile, but had low mileage and was in very good shape. Needless to say, I had to have it. In the past I've had tons of SAABs but always found the 900 turbo to be the most pleasing to drive overall (comfort, handling, etc). Right now, I'm currently doing a light, professional restoration with the goal of having this car in cherry, stock condition in the near future. There is nothing like a Saab 900T, especially with the redbox and improvements accompanying our CE models...A true example of a REAL SAAB and a truly unique vehicle overall. I plan on keeping her for a long time!

  • COMMENTS: Update 3/14: Car seen being parted on ebay.
Bought third hand in July 2011, 192 is good shape mechanically, with some small rust issues to be sorted out this summer. I'll post some pictures when we're done. Internally, she's complete, but if you have a 900CE for parts, please let me know—I could do with the rear internal fascias and potentially two new front seats. Overall, a wonderful car—as others have noted, the apogee of the Classic 900s, and sadly, probably the best SAAB ever made.
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Ruth Edwy, Saugerties, NY, 2/2008, 237,500 mi.) I bought this car with 29,400 miles on it and it is still by 'baby'. The engine was rebuilt at 190K and the transmission at 2llK. I have been the only driver and have never raced or abused this car. The interior and exterior are in excellent shape and have always immediately taken care of any problem, or rust or dent as it appeared. The car is still very tight and powerful and a joy to drive!!! There has been many replacement parts, of course, and the most recent is the Master & Slave cylinders (new). The clutch was replaced at 170K and I have all records and receipts since I purchased the car. I have winter wheels with 2yr-old Blizzak tires, the original wheels with 2 yr.-old Michelins. I would be happy to answer any questions and give the name of the shop that has taken care of this car and all my other SAABs. For sale 2/2008. Sold 7/2011.

It spent time in Beacon Hill and Martha's Vineyard, then was sold to a girl in the Boston area, who then sold it to her repair shop; Mecca Motors. I bought the car on SAABnet on 12-26-02 and have been doing all the work to bring the car into better working order. It's not that bad, one of the nicer ones out there. • COMMENTS: Purchased in 2002 from the 2nd owner of the car in Burlington, MA. The car has been running great and is a total joy to drive. I've cleaned up the interior (e.g. new headliner and stereo) and put in a new transmission and other minor engine work. Since I had to get a bigger car for new family members, I now need to part with her as I have no room to store her. She is still very clean and in good running condition, but needs new exhaust and probably new brakes and battery. I really hate to part with this car, but would be happy to see her go to someone who would take good care of her.

At the time it had about 59,234 miles on the odometer - although the car 'appeared' to have much more on it considering its filthy interior and engine condition. It was a one-owner car. It was missing the dash plaque. The CarFax came back clean though. A/C did not work and the headlamp wipers were missing. Also power windows were inoperative.

  • COMMENTS: I had had a 1986 Saab 900S and a great mechanic. Alas, the 900S unexpectedly committed suicide by timing chain rupture in 1996. But a good mechanic can rescue you, if not your car, and mine came up with the 900CE. The original owner had added an APC mod kit 86 and 900-16V air inlet kit in 1994 at 18,100, but then in 1996 he got married and his wife wanted him in something more sedate (he got an Aero). So at 31,378, just weeks before the 900S suicide, he left the CE with my mechanic to sell. Very lucky timing (made up for the bum chain). I got it at 1/2 price. And what a car! But now, I need more clearance & AWD, so at 103,170 I gave up fun for an old Subaru. I hope somebody who loves these CEs will get her. She's mechanically sound, good transmission, clutch (new master & slave) and brakes, all electronics good, and turbo still a thrill. Has original window sticker, manual, service records, and 4 snows on steel rims. A few rust spots, some minor dents, needs headliner, A/C doesn't hold freon pressure, and aerial broken off externally (its motor is still good). For sale 5/28/10

  • COMMENTS: I am a NYS dealer and this car was just traded in on a new Volvo. A friend of mine knew that I liked SAABs so he called me to inform me of the location of the SAAB. Needless to say I purchsed this car with no resevations. I have owned several 900's but this is my all time favorite. It is a one owner with only 76,000 miles on it, and it's mostly original except for the wooden shifter and it was repainted, but the paint is a beautful job. Everything seems to work the way it should except the power drivers seat recline and the c/d. This car was bought new in Endicott N.Y.on [10/10/93] where it has remained its whole life. This SAAB drives better than some of the newer cars, and looks beautful. What a joy to drive. I don't know if I could part with this car.

  • COMMENTS: Purchased in July of 2016 from Luke – was in Littleton Colorado and now back in MA where she was originally sold. Working to bring her back 100% to original. Body work being done, working on interior – made the changes back to central locking system and other small odds and ends. Only mechanic to touch the car is Chuck at MECCA MOTORS in Brighton MA – he is literally a SAAB genius.
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Luke Beatty, Denver, CO, 09/2015, 160,000 mi.) 3rd owner. Amazing condition.
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Kurt Scrudato, Pine Island, FL, 12/2013, 158,000 mi.) Car is in very solid shape, runs very well and most everything works. I bought it recently from someone who loved her and kept her sound. Seems original but some spotty, very average paint work was done but it does not seem to be hiding bigger issues. Panels are metal and solid with a few tiny bits of rust barely visible. I am sure there was a tiny bit of repair work done on the wheel well lips and some yet needed. Car fax was clean and it came to Florida about 4 years ago. Leather is solid and serviceable but “patinaed…” with one small hole at the drivers bolster. Driver door panel has elbow wear and rear head rests are dry and cracked. Headliner 99% with one tiny rip in the sun roof area and some minimal water staining. Carpets cleaned up well and look great. Dash has a few small cracks in typical spots. No plaque was on it but I understand it was the dealer’s responsibility to mount them and some did not. Surprisingly the underside is very solid with only a few spots that look like drain holes.
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Catherine Walters, Fairfield, CT, 7/2010, 155,000 mi., picture) I purchased this car from Adam Boyle in Sept 2007. I took it to Norwalk, CT... Driving it in the summers... I've recently moved to Fairfield, and I'm not able to store her. She is still driving well. Have done some minor alterations with her door locks... now manual, changed the voltage regulator and a brand new battery that was recommended by the 'tech' at SAABnet.com. I spoke with them throughout my many months to find this car. I love how she handles but I don't want to be selfish, I want her to go to a good home and someone who can bring her to a newer interior... ok to drive now but someone is going to want to change the driver's seat. Sold
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Adam Boyle, North Smithfield, RI, 8/2007, 150,000 mi., picture) Originally sold at Gaston Andre in Framingham, MA and still proudly wearing sticker. Car is wonderful to drive even after 150,000 miles. The turbo still pulls well into the red and handles great. Time has taken toll on cruise, central lock, AC and some of the power seat functions. I am third owner car is original condition with the trans being overhauled once.

  • COMMENTS: I believe I'm the 7th owner of this car, as Paul Rohmer listed himself as the 5th, and I just recently bought this car from another guy in Albany. I took a chance on ebay for $1500 and couldn't be happier. The carfax shows that this car was once registered in Juneau, Alaska for possibly as long as 6 years! The interior is nearly mint. The undercarriage does have some rust but nothing too crazy. I'm getting it removed and putting patch panels in where I can. I'm in love with this 900.
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Paul Rohmer, Ballston Spa, NY, 11/20105, 190,000 mi.) I am the 5th owner and all previous owners took good care of this car. Everything is original.

  • COMMENTS: Last owner was eager to put love into this project, but got sidetracked from the end goal by life. Fixed the Sponge Mats, the rust in the body, and the wheel wells. Covered the dash to smooth glory, and painted half the car. Found a wood knob for the shifter, hunted out the vacuum leaks and had a prodigy in PA rebuild the faulty transmission. Finally just got the AC running again! Other than a little mouse fur this CE is in top shape and ready for a life in rust-free Colorado when we move. What a fun car!
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Kyle Owen, Larchmont, NY, 3/2013, 141,500 mi.) Recently purchased this car from fellow Saab enthusiast Dennis Bibeau, who had to thin the herd after picking up CE #58 (what a find!) #236 ran flawlessly down from MA to NY - I intend to finish bringing her back to her full glory - a job Dennis already largely completed, just need to source a new dash and fix the A/C and she will be good for another 140k mi! #236 joins my black '92 900T convertible - still going strong at 231k mi.
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Dennis Bibeau, Upton, MA, 2/2013, 140,125 mi.) I purchased the car in November 2011 after it had sat idle for three years. Going through and bringing it back to full glory with my mechanic. The car is now running great and will be my driver. (Sold 3/15/13).

Hoping to do some restoration work this summer (2020) including paint, wheels, interior headliner and seats. Still love this car - my 4th of the classic 900s.
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT ( Whit Smith, Charlotte, VT, 8/2008, 189,800 mi.) Originally sold in Richboro, PA. Carfax shows the car was registered in PA (1993-2004), MD (2004), FL (2004-2005) and VT (2006). This car has been restored to its original beauty. UPDATE: Tan leather interior in excellent shape as are seats and headliner. Car has been garaged in the summer and stored in the winter, only 5000 miles put on it since 2007. Current mileage is 189,790 and still drives like a prince. NO RUST in any of the usual places (doors and wheel wells) save for four small spots on passenger door and one on hood. Driver's seat and radio not original, ditto for gear shifter. Majority of service records available and car is mechanically sound with many miles to go. Cruise control and AC need repair. SOLD 8/12.

  • COMMENTS:Originally sold in Winfield, PA. A carfax shows registrations in NJ (1997-1999), DE (1999-2000) and VT (2004-2006). This car was involved in a minor traffic accident in January 2007 (damaged passenger fender and hood). It was totaled by the insurance company and was bought back by the owner. I purchased it in March 2007 for restoration. Update 12/2007: the restoration is complete. I was able to find a black hood and fender and they are now on the car. The only painting I had to do was on the inner fender where the new fender was spot welded on. I also added an open-element air filter, intercooler fan, an OEM whaletail spoiler, SPG vent covers, an OEM sunroof wind deflector and a short-throw shifter. I also redid the headliner and re-dyed and sealed the seats. The car had a performance exhaust installed when I bought it.

PREVIOUS REGISTRANT ( Amy Pett, Ogden, UT, 5/2014, 187,400 mi.) I love this car. His name is Sven. Unfortunately there is something draining the battery. The mechanics started checking wires, fuses, etc., but then he called me to let me know it could take a few minutes or several hours to track it down. The later being very costly. I'm hoping someone who knows how to do that will want to adopt Sven and get him back in good shape. There are a few other issues--A/C goes in and out (vacuum hose I'm told?), the windows & sunroof stopped working, probably needs new tires soon, there is a small hole somewhere in the muffler. No serious issues, just a bunch of small ones. If the battery drain thing can get figured out I think he'll run a lot longer. As far as I can tell the engine and transmission are fine.
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT ( Eric Smaldino, Wilson, WY, 3/2012, 161,000 mi.) Seen for sale on saabnet. From the listing: This vehicle is a great daily driver and with a little TLC it could be a great showpiece. Car is mechanically solid, but is not without cosmetic issues. Known issues are cracked dash(not awful), sagging headliner, SRS light is on, driving seat stitching has come undone(not torn), rust on bottom of driver door and fender, and ignition lock cylinder pulls out. For sale 2/27/12--SOLD.

  • COMMENTS: Just bought the car--2014. The car was in a good condition. I am going through a thorough inspection and restoration of the car. I am the fourth owner. As the second owner mentioned the car is in the automobile magazine (issue November 2012). Looking for small parts to complete the restoration.
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT ( Chris Zappala, Sunnyvale, CA, 3/2008, 174,000 mi.) Acquired from a non-enthusiast in Colorado, I had it shipped to the Bay Area. It was filthy when it arrived. It did, however, boost straight into the red when I drove it, and the transmission is butter smooth. Someone took care of the engine and transmission. They also installed Bilstein shocks, so it's a bit of a rough ride; I would have preferred Koni. I'm now in the process of getting some accessories (if you have a wood shift knob, let me know!) and replacing various interior parts (mostly plastic). UPDATE 6/4/12: New heater valve; recent tune up and a/c recharge; ABS Accumulator replaced, recent CV boot replacement; axle replacement; Nakamichi high-end stereo system $1,800 with custom speakers; new dash pad; new padded spoiler; replaced head gasket and clutch. No expense spared on attention to detail on this vehicle. This car will be featured in Automobile Magazine's Collectible Classics in September 2012. SOLD 2012.

  • COMMENTS: Seen for sale on Saabnet. From the listing: Fine specimen of the last 900 series production #277. For all practical purposes this is a one owner car which was stored for much of its life, first on Long Island New York then for many years in Northern rural Florida. A substantial effort and expense has been put towards in-depth reconditioning the car both mechanically and cosmetically. No fluff and buff; for inspection purposes the Interior was stripped out of the car and steam cleaned, door glass and seals was replaced with new, the chassis and wheels were re conditioned and refinished. Just now, as proactive maintenance; new water pump, clutch kit, and exhaust cat –back with British ss double Carlson pipe. Tune up, fluid changes and AC system vacuum service. A strong and sound, all OEM car owned by Saab professional. Details on request. The car is currently garage stored in Manhattan. For sale 6/23/2018.

  • COMMENTS:The car is stock. She still runs strong. Great car exceptionally clean and well cared for. For sale 10/3/12.
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Deborah Herman, Minneapolis, MN, 7/2010, 191,100 mi.) I've poured thousands into keeping her on the road. Interior is beautiful — only some early cracking in the dashboard. The leather is really nice, and I redid the headliner, so it's nearly new. She ran beautifully until a collision this fall, and now needs some front-end bodywork. Would you like to restore my beloved Saab? It'd surely be the best thing you've ever done! picture. Sold 2010.

  • COMMENTS: Car came to me with a blown transmission and needing several other repairs. I built a very nice gearbox for it and replaced with new clutch, slave cylinder and rear main seal. Replaced- All 4 brakes (pads and rotors), Right rear caliper, antenna mast and fuel level sending unit and 4 tires. Vehicle still needs fender and door repairs to right front. Looking into body repair options but would prefer to sell without further repairs. Vehicle needs- Rt. Ft. fender and door, Headliner re-upholstery, seat motor repairs and drivers seat re-stitching. Asking $4000 OBO but as I do more repairs, the price will increase. I can be texted or called at 203-470-9414. I am also available for classic 900 gearbox repairs/rebuilds. For sale 6/7/2016.
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Michael John de Schrijver, Washington, CT, 4/2015, 87,700 mi.) This car has been laid up in PA for the last two years due to a dead transmission. Car has a few minor rust issues, needs some interior refurbishment and some work to the front right quarter panel due to a minor sideswipe injury. Car is running but will be off the road while she undergoes a restoration. For Sale 7/1/2015. SOLD.
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Tyler Quinn, Reading, PA, 9/2009, 87,700 mi.) Well, I bought the car for 500 bucks. I was thinking it was a low-end good deal for a daily driver back and forth to school. I found the dealer tag under the parking brake. It said the type and model. then I saw the price it was rated at--my jaw dropped, $33,065. I also saw the commerative plaque in the car. I didnt think anything of it. So I was researching it on the interent and ended up here. Condition: The car was only 500 bucks, so it needed work. Not much work. All it needed is tires and spedo cable. The paint is very nice, needs a good buff. Leather interior is just about flawless, and the engine is clean as a whistle. Shifts very nice into all gears, but it will pop out of reverse sometimes for some reason. I'm so glad I found this site. I would have never known that the car was a collector's item. Sold 4/2015.

  • COMMENTS: Purchased from EAS and I am now in the process of restoring and fixing all of the minor issues.
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT ( European Auto Salvage, Coopersburg, PA, 4/2014, 165,000 mi.) Deemed too many issues to fix by PO. Sold for salvage to EAS. UPDATE 6/2016: EAS is not parting this car. It is being sold as a complete running and driving car. For sale 5/26/2016. SOLD.
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT ( Gregory Pietrobon, Coopersburg, PA, 7/2012, 165,000 mi.) I am third owner after having a neglectful second. Most of the electronics do not work, central locks, cruise, radio was replaced with after market junk. Generally, drives wonderful. UPDATE 7/2013: For sale 7/23/13.

  • COMMENTS: New owner. More to come... UPDATE, 5/2015: I just got the phone call I have been dreading. It's the gearbox. It can be driven until it heats up – so that works for alternate side parking in NYC. But I have to sell her. I don't have 1400 to put into the car with the boyfriend not driving stick and me not having any mechanical talent. Or a yard, or a driveway, or even a dedicated parking spot. I need a CE lover to restore her. And send me pictures. Problems other than the gearbox are mostly due to street parking in Brooklyn: plastic grill needs to be replaced; fog lights need to be replaced; dent in hood from giant SUV with no parking skills; there is some rust under doors; the drivers seat leather needs minor re-sewing; passenger seat has stains near shifter; second radio front panel was stolen (no radio effectively). I am interested in her living on and would even consider a deal that includes another Saab since I would still want to own one – but automatic this time, please get in touch. I don't want to “donate” her. For sale 05/12/15.
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (Saul Anton, NY, NY, 6/2010, 111,000 mi.) The car is in excellent shape and has been well-cared for. A couple of minor dings on the body. No rust. The engine is in great shape and the Turbo still has all its power. I replaced the transmission about 14 months ago. New brake pads, ball joints, rotors, new alternator. Regularly serviced. Leather is in excellent condition. Everything works. Power/heated seats. I'm the second owner. Mostly highway miles, with very little driving done in the city. For sale 6/23/10.
PREVIOUS REGISTRANT (submitted at-large 2009) This is not my car... I've never met the owner...I'm registering it for the registry to track all remaining CE's. I live in NYC and see this car in the west/Greenwich Village all the time. Car looks to be in good shape. Baby seat in the back and beach stickers on the window. I know it has a bit over 101,000 miles but not sure how many since the last few times I've seen it the front seat has been folded forward covering any view. The front headlights have been bumper bumped and misaligned and there's a couple small dings but otherwise can't see any rust issues or anything at all. Hopefully the owner will keep it on the road in proper shape (or sell it to me so I can!).

  • COMMENTS: I'm the proud second owner of this CE coupe, which I purchased on June 3, 2008. The car has spent its entire life in the area and is in good overall condition. With 165,600 miles, it does need some TLC, cosmetically and mechanically. Seats, headliner, minor body work on the cosmetic side. CV axles, transmission synchros, A/C service on the mechanical side. In other words, it's a project car in running condition. I also own a 2001 steel gray Viggen convertible. I had recently begun looking for a Classic 900 Turbo coupe when this car became available through Sportcar Service, my SAAB center in Wilmington. They have serviced this car since 1994 and have all appropriate service records on file.

  • COMMENTS: Purchased used from Stetson Auto Sales, Warren, Maine, April 1, 1997 with 48,000 miles (approx.). Ran car on track at Loudon Speedway, NH at 50th Anniversary Owner's Rendesvous. Car has been serviced primarily by Stetson Auto (Warren, Maine), Titan Automotive/Steve Yankura (Clinton, Connecticut and winner of 1997 master-tech competition) and Frank Jimino (Windham, Maine). Car is on its third transmission but otherwise has had only routine maintenance performed; original turbo still functioning.

  • COMMENTS: This car was owned by a professor at the Eastman School of music and it took 3 years to convince him to sell it to me! I've wanted a CE ever since they cam e out and have suffered through a series of Opel/SAABs currently driving a 9-3 turbo this one will be for Sunday drives and special. Very good fairly unmolested condition, missing the keyless FOB and the tinted windows have to be cleaned off. For sale 11/10/09

  • COMMENTS: This black beauty found me while working at a BMW dealer in spring 2007. She was tired but not abused. The original owner knew what he had and kept her updated w/ repairs. First was a paint job. I purchased 2 solid doors, hatch, hood and OEM vent covers. Spare tire compartment and underneath need attention also. Then of course all new chrome, trim and a head liner. Motor mounts, suspension, air intake, tune up, manual boost controller, new speakers and amp, new generation stainless SAAB sport exhaust, a few interior odds and ends and she seems fairly happy. I drive it as a daily driver doing real estate in the tri-city area. After working in sales for SAAB over 8 years I had only see a handful and was looking for a clean one to recondition for about 3 years. I have a block and head worked and ready to install this winter. What a treat to drive!

  • COMMENTS:The car was originally purchased by my wife's uncle, Ray Endreny, in 1993, from Wigwam Saab in Providence, RI. After daily use, it was later stored and used occasionally at their family's lake house in NH. We came into ownership of "Guy" (Ray's middle name) in August 2013, following Ray's passing in 2012. Guy is currently in a drivable "restoration" state, but looks good and runs great. He should be cosmetically parade-worthy in a moderate timeframe. Keep a lookout for #296 on the Upstate NY parade circuit or Watkins Glen(?) someday! No modifications. We're aiming to keep it original and real. Not for sale—ever.

  • COMMENTS: Seen for sale on Saabnet. Submitted at large. From the listing: This is number 297 of the last 325 classic 900s made. I bought the car new in 1993, and it has served me well for over 20 years. I live in the northeast, so there is no way to avoid the winter. However, the car has been garage kept until recently, and I have done what I can to deal with corrosion. The car has been lovingly maintained by a single (authorized) mechanic for the last 15 years. The engine (head gasket) was overhauled last year and is in excellent condition. The transmission needs to be repaired/replaced. Interior is clean, except for the normal cracks in the dash. The stereo was replaced about 5 years ago. The car ran great until the tranny started to go, which is why I am selling. For sale 1/27/15.

  • COMMENTS: Purchased in Jun 2008 from a gentleman in MA who said during his ownership of several years he had driven it and stored away in a barn (evidence of mice chewing through wires) after he had purchased it from a dealer who in turn obtained it from a charity auction where it had been donated by an older lady. The Record Book shows the VIN to match vehicle VIN and the engine serial number to be B202R5M09P038153. The book is annotated to show that it was sold and delivered to a lady in North Andover, MA by Charles River SAAB, Watertown MA, on Sep 21 1993. Book's service chits removed to 95,000 major service point.
